The SOURDINE Project: developing environmentally friendly arrival and departure procedures

Abstract Next to other projects to reduce the aircraft source noise, SOURDINE has performed on initial study into the possibilities to reduce aircraft noise by modifications to current aircraft operational approach and departure procedures. A number of potential solutions have been identified in this area and an illustration of the obtainable benefits has been made. The project has been carried out in preparation of a follow-on project, which will further develop the most promising solutions that have been identified in this project.
