Effect of Combine Selection and Harvesting Rate on Grain Drying and Delivery System Performance

ABSTRACT COMBINE harvesting and delivery vehicle efficiency is in part a function of grain facility design. These effi-ciencies were evaluated for facility components reduced from 100 to 75, 50, 25 and in some instances 5 percent of optimum design size for a range of daily harvesting capacities. On the average, the most critical component was the dryer followed by the receiving conveyor, wet holding bin and dump pit.
