The method comprises the following steps that: an application module of an application unit sends a request for network connection to a virtual network module according to preconfigured port information for network connection; the virtual network module establishes a connection with a USB network equipment module for network connection and sends the request for network connection to the USB network equipment module; and the USB network equipment module establishes a network connection with a communication unit. The application unit of the communication terminal provided by the invention sends the request for network connection to the virtual network module according to preconfigured port information for network connection and achieves the aim that the application unit sends and receives network data through the virtual network module. When the communication terminal is in a sleep state, the virtual network module can provide a network connection port for the application unit of the communication terminal all the time so that the previous on-line application program can keep the on-line state.
