Compact low loss coplanar waveguide to slotline transition for MMMIC applications

Broadband low loss coplanar waveguide to slotline transitions have been studied for use in Ka-Band MMMIC circuits. A variety of topologies have been fabricated and measured up to 60 GHz. Broadband performance with an insertion loss of <0.5 dB per transition is observed. Transmission line models of the structures have also been implemented to enable circuit performance to be predicted and designed to suit application frequency. The effect of parasitic modes on transition performance is also investigated.
