Incremental Motion Control System with Asynchronous Motor

Abstract The possibilities of incremental motion control, with asynchronous motors are discussed. Various dc link static converters are shown, which provide the motor step by step operation, when the discrete information items into elementary displacements of the rotor are converted. An analytical expression of the electromagnetic torque developed by the motor is deduced, as well as its variation with the impulse frequency. The experimentally determined mechanical characteristics and measurements are shown too. The system simulation is based on a model with space-phasors and takes into account the dynamic characteristics and saturation of the motor, the transient phenomena of the converter. So the reaction effects between the motor and converter can be studied. The improvement methods for the positioning performances of the incremental motion system are indicated.
