The use of grout for the repair and strengthening of steel tubular members

This paper presents details and results of a programme of tests carried out on tubular members to determine the effectiveness of grout filling and of grouted clamps as a means of repairing damage. Tests involved indenting a number of grout-filled specimen lengths under controlled conditions. After denting, the tubulars were tested and then, after failure, cut open for the condition of the grout to be examined. Comparisons are made with the unfilled damaged and undamaged parent tubulars. Further tests investigated the static and fatigue behaviour of bolted split-sleeve grouted clamps.
