(Control ID# 1073211) Modern tactical military supersonic aircraft continue to increase in performance and capability. There is continuing concern over the very high noise levels produced by such aircraft. The requirements of launching supersonic aircraft from US Navy aircraft carriers demands that carrier deck crews routinely experience perhaps the loudest working conditions in which people regularly work. This paper reports measurements of the noise environment aboard US and British aircraft carriers while conducting flight operations.
