A phase controlled rectifier system consists of the power circuit and the electronic circuit providing the gating signals for the thyristors. The dynamic behaviour of the system is determined by the power circuit and the design of the electronic circuit. This paper studies different gating circuits based on digital electronic components including microprocessors. It provides the analysis of the dynamic behaviour of designs bajed on different principles. It is shown that some gating circuits using digital counters worsen considerably the dynamic behaviour of the system. A microprocessor-based gating circuit is presented where the dynamic performance of the system is determined only by the power circuit.
