Load sharing analysis of identical wound rotor induction motors driving the same load

In this study, load sharing in tandem connected wound rotor induction motors and the effect of change in rotor resistance on load sharing were investigated. A mathematical model for a single motor was developed in MATLAB/Simulink. Then this model was doubled for two motors where the shaft speed feed-back is the same. Motors can be identical or different. The combined model and individual models are all simulated to compare and verify the results. Solutions by changing the rotor resistance for known problematic situations met in load sharing of cage induction motors were investigated. It was seen that load sharing problems caused by different rated speeds can be achieved in the cost of a reduction in shaft power and efficiency.
