SUM Executive Summary

This document summarizes the activities and results of the project “Surveillance in an Urban Environment using Mobile Sensors” (SUM) carried out by the SUM consortium led by GMV (Spain), and including RMA (Belgium), TUM (Germany) and DLR (Germany) under contract A0444RTGC. The SUM project incorporates the design and development of an innovative and high performance low cost demonstrator for a multi-sensor vehicle protection system to detect, recognize and characterize potential threats at medium distances at normal cruising speed, providing C4ISR capabilities and enhancing the situational awareness of the vehicle commander in an urban environment. This project was managed and funded in the frame of the EDA R&T Joint Investment Programme on Force Protection A-0120-RT-GC by the Contributing Members: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
