On Variable Structure Control with Sliding Mode for Automotive Anti-lock Braking Systems

The‘boundary layer’method is considered as a kind of commonly and effective variable structure control with sliding mode for automotive ABS.Although the‘boundary layer’method may weaken the chattering of the system,the merit of robustness of variable structure control with sliding mode is eliminated at the meantime.In view of this shortcoming,an improved exponential approach law of variable structure control with sliding mode method was proposed,which has the merit of the small chattering and good robustness.Simulation study was performed to variable structure control with sliding mode system adopting the improved exponential approach law for automotive ABS.And the simulation results illustrate that the method is effective to automotive ABS control.
