The principle of breaking capacity improvement of hybrid circuit breaker with serial vacuum interrupter and SF6 interrupter is discussed and the dielectric recovery process of two interrupters is analyzed.Based on the improvement of breaking capacity,the requirements of hybrid circuit breaker for its control mechanism are proposed.The experimental model of hybrid circuit breaker based on optical control modules is designed,which meets the research requirement for the breaking capacity gain characteristic of coordinating operation at different moments between vacuum interrupter and SF6 interrupter,and the time dispersion is microsecond level.Experimental results show that,if the usage of SF6 gas is same,the breaking capacity of hybrid circuit breaker is higher than that of SF6 circuit breaker.
