Plausible reasoning for open problem domains

Intelligent control is connected with open problem domains that characterize control situations. Therefore, the formalization of problem situations, uncertainty handling and efficient problem solving methods are important to realise this control. A formal theory of plausible reasoning is introduced which provides an appropriate foundation for intelligent systems that solve problems with open problem domains. The theory provides a special logic tool to deal with real problem domains. This tool is the so called quasi axiomatic theory which permits the combination of theoretical and reliable data and knowledge with uncertain experimental data and facts. The theory provides the so called JSM-method to generate hypothesis to abridge the gap caused by the lack of information in the problem situations.
