Internet of Things and radio frequency identification in care taking, facts and privacy challenges

Internet of Things technologies such as radio frequency identification are about to be able to help aging and sick people and even compensate for some disabilities. The use of these technologies in health care represents a promising development in information technology, but also raises important ethical, legal and social issues. This paper explores the use of these technologies in health care environments and formulates recommendations for further research that can ensure that the patients' privacy and dignity is preserved.
