Dual closed-loop control of a doubly salient permanent magnet generator based on gain-scheduling PI controller

This paper proposes a dual closed-loop control system for a doubly salient permanent magnet generator (DSPMG). The current loop, as well as the voltage loop, both employ gain scheduling PI controller based on the linearized model of the DSPMG and the drive circuit. In addition, a back-EMF compensator has been implemented to reduce the bandwidth requirements on the controller. Two different design process have been analyzed and compared for the voltage loop. The design criteria for typical Type I and Type II systems are used to simplify the design process and reduce the computational burden. Simulation and experimental results have verified the validity of the proposed method.
