A STUDY ON THE INTERFACE DESIGN FOR THE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION PASSENGER INFORMATION SERVICE USING MOBILE PHONES

The Advanced Public Transportation System (APTS) has been developing rapidly in recent years in line with the advancement of the wireless communication technology. Wireless communication technology, however, has been applied mainly for the collection of traffic information but not for the distribution of the information. In particular, the public transportation passenger information has been usually provided through large display systems, kiosks and radio broadcasting, which are mainly for the general public and does not satisfy the varied need of each individual passenger. Thus, the purpose of this study is to make public transportation users more convenient and to promote the transfer from passenger cars to public transportation by the provision of public transportation passenger information service through mobile phones, the most widely spread personal communication devices in the world as well as in Korea.
