Sound recognition system and method for aurally impaired people

A sound recognition auxiliary system for an audibly handicapped person and a sound recognition method therefor are provided to enable the audibly handicapped person to recognize several sounds necessary for life by using a portable terminal and a computer without installing an additional sensing device. A portable sound recognition device includes a sound input unit, a wireless communication module, a vibration unit, a display unit, and a power unit. The wireless communication module transmits a sound signal received in the sound input unit to the outside, and receives a control signal corresponding to the sound signal. The vibration unit vibrates to inform a kind of the sound according to the control signal. The display unit displays information of the sound according to the control signal. A computer receives the sound signal from the wireless communication module, identifies the sound signal, and transmits the control signal corresponding to the identified sound signal to the wireless communication module.
