P2P-based mobile navigation system with location service

With the many practical applications involving global positioning system (GPS) that have been developed to date, location-based services have been receiving increased attention. Mobile users of a mobile navigation system want to retrieve useful or interesting information when they are located in the same area as such points of interest. However, such a system will be overloaded if the number of mobile users increases significantly. Therefore, this study developed a mobile navigation system based on the peer-to-peer (P2P) protocol that supports indoor and outdoor locations. The system enables a mobile user to download multimedia data from nearby users with similar interests. The experiment results show that multimedia data are efficiently transmitted by P2P in the system.
