Effect of laminarin and chitosan gel formu- lations on the treatment of hydrofluoric acid induced corneal burns in the rabbits

Des brulures comeennes ont ete induites sur les 2 yeux de 36 lapins neozelandais blancs par instillation de 0.05 ml d'acide fluorhydrique a 2% (HF) pendant 60 secondes. Apres cela, les yeux furent irrigues avec 500 ml d'un solute sale isotonique (ISOT) et les lapins furent integres a l'un des 4 groupes de traitement suivants : une solution de laminarin (LS), un hydrogel de chitosan (CHG), l'hydrogel de chitosan contenant le laminarin (CHG+L) et le solute sale isotonique (ISOT) comme controle. Dans chaque goupe, le traitement a ete administre a raison d'une goutte 2 fois par jour pendant des periodes de 2, 7 et 14 jours respectivement. Ainsi 3 lapins ont ete utilises pour chaque periode de traitement dans chacun des groupes. Les yeux ont ete examines cliniquement immediatement apres la brulure corneenne puis 1, 2, 7 et 14 jours plus tard selon le schema therapeutique. Les lapins ont ensuite ete enthanasies et chaque cornee a ete photographiee apres coloration a la fluoresceine avant d'etre etudiee histologiqement. Les resultats cliniques et histopathologiques ont montre que tandis que le LS et l'ISOT etaient efficaces, le CHG et l'association CHG+L n'etaient pas efficaces dans le traitement des brulures corneennes a l'acide fluorhydrique. Le LS etait superieur a l'ISOT. Les traitements avec le CHG ou l'association CHG+L n'ont eu aucun effet d'acceleration sur la cicatrisation de l'erosion comeenne dans toutes les procedures experimentales.
