Second-order sensitivity analysis of multimodal eigenvalues and related optimization techniques

ABSTRACT Making use of stationarity of the Rayleigh quotient, this paper presents a method for second-order sensitivity analysis of multimodal eigenvalues. Results are applied to formulate a sequential quadratic programming approach for solving problems of multimodal optimal design of structures.
