This paper introduces an area-efficient sigma-delta DAC structure with an interpolated noise shaper and a semidigital interpolated finite impulse response (IFIR) reconstruction filter. Applying the IFIR approach to the design of reconstruction filter, we reduce the number of required reconstruction filter coefficients almost by a factor of two. Thus, the realized sigma-delta DAC exhibits robust reconstruction filter response with reduction of active area.
