Development of Camber Control Algorithm in Hot Strip Rolling Process

In the hot strip rolling process, the camber of a steel strip is caused by various asymmetric factors such as different parameter values of the strip and the mill which rolls the steel strip. The camber reduces productivity and damages the work roll surface, and it is necessary to reduce the camber to improve productivity. In this paper, the camber control algorithm is proposed based on widely used strip model and mill model. In the proposed algorithm, the control gain is complemented by the neural network to make the algorithm to be robust against changes in the type of steel. The real operation data are used in the simulation, and the proposed algorithm is validated by MATLAB Simulink.
