UNSTEADY FLOW DUE TO TRAINS PASSING A TUNNEL

A one-dimensional non-isentropic theory for predicting the unsteady flow in a railroad tunnel is presented. The developed computer program uses the method of characteristics, working in a rectangular grid of co-ordinates in the x-t plane. The theoretical results of transient pressure histories are compared with measurements of full scale tests.
