ELECTRO-OSMOTIC STABILIZATION OF WEST BRANCH DAM

After foundation movement occurred during the construction of West Branch (Mahoning River) Dam, electro-osmotic stabilization was used to reduce pore-water pressures in the foundation, thus enabling completion of the 80-ft high earth embankment. The electro-osmotic system and its installation are described, and the results achieved are presented. A bibliography on electro-osmosis is included.
