Latent‐Variable Modeling

The article provides an overview of latent variable models including the classical factor analysis model, factor models for categorical manifest variables, structural equation models and more recent extensions for mixed (categorical and continuous) manifest and latent variables. Emphasis is given on model specification, estimation methods, goodness-of-fit test statistics, and factor scores. Keywords: item response theory; factor analysis; structural equation models
