Thermography of a septic metatarsophalangeal joint in a heifer

involved in human salmonellosis, Salmonella enteritidis, was not isolated in this study. However, other serotypes such as Salmonella saintpaul, Salmonella miami and Salmonella mikawasima that are also regarded as a frequent cause of disease in human beings, did occur in the tortoises examined. For the serotype saintpaul, transmission from tortoises to human beings has already been described (Lamm and others 1972). Therefore, care must be taken during the handling of tortoises.
