Degradation on the electrical and mechanical properties of EPR irradiated under Co/sup 60/-/spl gamma/ ray

In this paper, presents some investigations on the EPR irradiated by Co/sup 60/-/spl gamma/ ray performed by electrical properties such as the AC breakdown fields, volume resistivity, high frequency capacitances and dissipation factors, mechanical properties (elongations and tensile strengths) as a function of doses and antioxidant concentrations. The experimental results have important implications for qualification of antioxidant on EPR for nuclear applications. The results of electrical properties were less significantly changes compared with the mechanical properties, but the electrical properties provide valuable indicators for the selection and evaluation of antioxidant's efficiencies on insulating EPR degraded by ionizing irradiation. It was suggested that the electrical measurements herewith mechanical measurements were effective to the monitoring of degradations on the irradiated EPR during in-service.
