Rapid measurement of impedance changes associated with developmental phases in Artemia cysts

A rapidly prototyped microfluidic device made of glass microscope slides and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) was developed to characterize impedance changes during the developmental stages of Artemia cysts. The device was designed to measure the impedance of a single cyst. The device performance was tested by measuring the impedance of Artemia cysts until they hatched. The measured impedance corresponded to physiological changes as the cyst developed.
