AN IMPROVED VIDEOENCODER WITH IN-THE-LOOPDE-NOISINGFILTERFOR IMPULSENOISEREDUCTION

Itisseenthat theperformance ofavideo codecdrastically degrades fornoisy sources. Inthis paper, wepropose anovel andeasy-to-implement de-noising filter, integrated within the motion estimation andmotion compensation blocks ofanH.264 video encoder, toreduce impulse noise fromvideo. Performanceofourproposed filter iscompared withaspatial domaintwo-pass adaptive median filter([1]) that usesspatial information ofnoise. Results areobtained forseveral video sequences, contaminated withdifferent levels ofadditive randomnoise, thus establishing theeffectiveness oftheproposed technique.
