BASIC computer program for evaluation of spectroscopic DNA renaturation data from GILFORD SYSTEM 2600 spectrophotometer on a PC/XT/AT type personal computer

Abstract A menue driven BASIC computer program for on line transfer, graphical CGA display, storage and evaluation of spectroscopic DNA renaturation data from a GILFORD SYSTEM 2600 spectrophotometer on an external computer is presented. DNA renaturation data stored as sequential ASCII files in a PC/XT/AT type computer may be evaluated by regression analysis. DNA — DNA homologies are calculated immediately after data collection. DNA renaturation rates obtained by regression analysis may also be employed for the calculation of bacterial genome sizes. For enhanced graphical display data files can be reformatted and loaded into spreadsheet programs such as LOTUS/SYMPHONY and others.
