The Business Challenge of Configuration

The real business challenge of configuration is the consolidation of the configuration domains that occur in various business processes. Typically, different configuration domains require different tools and technologies. Today's research and commercial applications are strongly focussed on tools and technologies that address the specific problems of these specific configuration domains. For a growing number of businesses, that is not were the added value lies of configuration. This paper explores the problems to be addressed and provides some directions for future applications.
