The method comprises the following steps: S1, a blind node detects motion information of the elderly people by using a three-axis acceleration sensor, and gesture of the elderly people is judged according to the motion information and pressure data provided by a pressure node; S2, the blind node broadcasts positioning request data packets to surrounding reference nodes, and the respective reference nodes extract and package the receiving signal strength values in the positioning request data packets and send the receiving signal strength values to an embedded gateway; and S3, the embedded gateway calculates location of the elderly people and displays the location and the gesture of the elderly people on a display screen of the embedded gateway in real time. When the indoor elderly people monitoring method is adopted, safety of the elderly people can be monitored in real time, and individual privacies of the old are well protected, so that the elderly people are easy to accept the method. In addition, as the indoor elderly people monitoring system is based on the Internet of Things and does not need indoor wiring, original indoor layout cannot be disordered, and wiring cost can also be saved for a user.
