The Audiophoto Desk

The audiophoto desk plays back sounds associated with printed photographs placed on its surface. It uses image recognition from an overhead camera to trigger audio associations from individual prints (see Figure 1). It also tracks the position of prints to control volume and the horizontal panning of sound playback. Multiple prints can play at the same time, allowing the user to create complex audio-visual experiences simply by changing the arrangement of prints on the desk. This demonstrates the value of using tangible interfaces to multimedia content.
