Application of step-dynamic voltage regulator to single-phase system

Dynamic behavior of network voltages are investigated when a step-dynamic voltage regulator (S-DVR) is applied to power systems in which heavy single-phase load is connected. The analysis is based on the design criterion of using the regulator to restore the load voltage magnitude back to its nominal value. It is shown that the changes of the voltages due to the load connection or S-DVR operation are largely dependent on the strength of the source system, the load level and the load power factor. The operation of the single-phase S-DVR to regulate the magnitude of one particular phase voltage will cause minimal slight changes in the-magnitudes and phase angles of the remaining phase voltages.
