Design and Implementation of Embedded Audio System Based on Audio Codec '97

AC97(Audio Codec '97) is an industry standard of audio device brought forward by Intel Corporation. This paper describes an approach about implementation of AC97 audio system based upon embedded system. The basic frame about AC97 audio system is firstly introduced. Then this paper discusses the concrete implementation of AC97 audio system in Intel XScale PXA255 system from analog and digital aspects. Finally we describe the device driver based on the embedded Linux system, which focuses on the implementation of the audio buffer.
