Channel estimation is one of the key technologies in the ultra-wideband communications systems.In this paper,the architectures,signals and IEEE 802.15.3a channel models of Direct-Sequence UWB system and Time-Hopping system were analyzed according to their different features.With maximum likelihood channel estimation,the effect of assistant sign numbers on these two systems were studied.With the receiving end adopting Most Ratio Combined(MRC) Rake receiver,following an analyzing to the delay and loss generated by channel estimates,we proved that the DS-UWB system is advantageous in low SNR to binary time-hopping pulse-amplitude-modulation system.
