Brain Game - Application of Brain Computer Interface : Usability Test Through the Demonstration

With the popularity of brain engineering, brain-computer interface (BCI) has been a hot issue since it may uses the information about human's behavior, thought and emotion to control a device or facilitate the interaction between human and machine. The application of BCI can be divided into two types, one is in the context of control and another is monitoring a human's mental or physical state. We developed two different applications according to these types. A 'racing game' uses the concentration of a user to change the car's velocity, and as a second application, a lego tank unit motivated by the PC game 'starcraft' is controlled by users intention. These games were demonstrated in HCI Korea 2012 conference and conference attendees participated to play them. From the demonstration and the feedback from participants, we prospect the usability of BCI application and its future direction.
