Test of thin layers on highway: year 1 measurement report

The Danish Road Institute/Road Directorate (DRI) and Road and Hydraulic Engineering Institute in the Netherlands (DWW) is cooperating on the DRI-DWW noise abatement programme that includes a project on Thin Layer Pavements. An important part of this project is to carry out a full scale test of different types of noise reducing thin layers on a highway in Denmark with speed limits of 110 km/h for passenger cars and 85 km/h for heavy vehicles. The test site is located on highway M10 at ‘Koge Bugt Motorvejen‘ near Solrod. The purpose of this experiment is to document the noise reducing effect, and on a long term the acoustical and the structural lifetime of the thin layers.
