Data center design of optimal reliable systems

Data center design of optimal reliability is adversely concerned not only investment, recovery times and lost opportunity costs, but also effected company's reputation and customers' confidence. Reliability of the power distribution system (PDS) for a data center depends upon numerous electronic parts, system of systems: component's inherent characteristic (CIC); system connectivity topology (SCT); system integration, and operating conditions. Different business activities are required the different level of fault tolerance of power outages in varying degrees of risks. A research question arises upon “what is the best appropriated level of data center reliability/availability at the optimal acceptable costs?” Research findings propose an optimal balance between data center system reliability and investment costs for each business case requirement.
