Investigation the design of a RSRM through the analysis of the finite elements with experimental validation

This work presents a study on the design of a Rotary Switched Reluctance Motor (RSRM) of 1 hp through the 3D finite elements analysis (FEA) concerning static magnetization characteristics by phase. A comparison between two types of mesh (tetrahedral and hexahedral) was performed. In order to validate the analysis, three experimental methods were used: rising (RC) and falling (FC) DC current and determination of the impedance with AC voltage (DI) methods. In the experiment a data acquisition board (DAQ) integrated to platform LabView® was used. From the results obtained, a comparative study between simulated and experimental values was held. An evaluation on all methods, highlighting the positive, and negative aspects and their limitation was performed.
