Partial Connection Design of Composite Slabs

Composite slabs consist of special profiled metal decking and a concrete topping. After the concrete has hardened the profiled steel sheet acts as part or all of the tensile reinforcement in the finished slab. In continuous slabs the sheeting contributes additionally to the bending resistance over interior supports. The steel-concrete interaction may be achieved either by frictional interlock, mechanical interlock, end anchorage or by combinations of the means. Pure bond (adhesion) is not considered effective for composite action.
