The bolus transport diagram: a functional display method applied to oesophageal studies.

A method for displaying bolus transport as a function of time is applied to studies of the oesophagus. Not only is transit time through the oesophagus determined with great accuracy but the history of the bolus (i.e. variation in velocity, sticking and reflux) is revealed. Patient movements are easily detected. The display technique is applicable to other types of bolus transport studies.
