The EU's as well as the US legislation requires pipeline system operators to perceive risk assessment as part of comprehensive safety rather than as part of pipeline systems' reliability. The concept of pipeline integrity expects the development of tools for assessing the risks inherent in pipeline systems. In line with ASME B 31.8S (2004) and CEN/TS 15137:2005, the contribution proposes a procedure for assessing the respective pipeline system's integrity.
