Abstract Europe has been identified as likely to benefit from US investment on a major scale in the next year. This paper gives an overview of the present situation concerning international hotel chains and describes prospects for future development both in Continental Europe and more specifically in Central Eastern Europe (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia).
