EPAS: supporting practice development

We outline the development of the Excellence in Practice Accreditation Scheme (EPAS), devised by the practice development team in the Postgraduate Institute at the University of Teesside, UK. The aim of the EPAS is to provide individuals, teams and organizations with a framework through which professionals can develop, implement and evaluate advances in practice. The scheme incorporates an analysis of organizational accreditation and review schemes that already exist. These have been reviewed to develop a simple yet comprehensive system of practice accreditation. Copyright © 2004 Whurr Publishers Ltd.
