Dynamic power flow in wind turbine systems with doubly-fed induction generator

This paper (i) discusses a detailed dynamical model of wind turbine systems (WTS) with doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG), (ii) introduces a dynamic power flow of WTS with wind as input power and electrical power at the point of common coupling (PCC) as output power and (iii) defines an instantaneous efficiency factor. System model, dynamic power flow and instantaneous efficiency factor are nonlinear and can be used for detailed simulations, controller design, loss reduction, power flow and efficiency analysis. Moreover, in view of the time-varying nature of the wind, it is shown that a steady state analysis of power flow and efficiency is not reasonable and the distinction between super- and sub-synchronous operation is an oversimplification.
