Experiments on the creep of concrete under two-dimensional stressing

Summary The tests were designed to investigate the creep of concrete specimens under (a) two compressive principal stresses, and (b) one compressive and one tensile principal stress. The equipment for producing the stresses and the gauges for measuring the strains are described. Results are presented which suggest that creeps develop in the principal directions with magniTudes generally of the same order as the corresponding creeps under simple stress. Poisson's ratio for creep strains appears to be negligible.
