Complex Shapes Prosthetics Process: An Application of Fused Deposition Modeling Technology

Design, manufacture prosthetics for disabilities people is developing strongly and extensive in the world. Rapid prototyping (RP) technologies provide the ability to fabricate initial prototypes from various model materials. The purpose of this research is to investigate and analyze the strength of parts of the prosthesis by using Inventor software applications and fused deposition modeling (FDM). A 200 mc machine is utilized to produce socket and calves. Results of this research coincided with the requirements of prosthetic functions for disabled people who have a maximum load of 113 kg. A CAD drawing of socket and calves is built. And then, measurement instruments are set up to measure and establish the prosthetics manufacturing processes via the use of rapid prototyping methods. This application has many advantages and prospects in the near future as rapid prototyping machines.
