Carbon Foot Print Calculation of a Turbofan Engine at Landing and Take-Off Cycle

Environmental issues related greenhouse gases attract attention in 21 st century.  In this case, contribution of the aviation fleet to this matter is obvious. For this reason, it is aimed to present carbon foot print of greenhouse gases emitted from a turbofan engine by authors. A turbofan engine which is still in service is examined in this framework. Firstly greenhouse gas emissions of the engine during a typical landing and take-off cycle are introduced. Then carbon foot print is calculated with the aid of the greenhouse gas emission data. As a result of the study, carbon foot print variation of the engine is put forth at the flight phases of landing and take-off cycle. The present paper can be beneficial to who is interested in aviation induced environmental issues and impact of aircrafts on global warming.
