Correlation between electrical impedance spectroscopy and the clinical and dermoscopic grading of actinic keratoses

we would like to report on the first prospective study on electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in Actinic Keratoses (AKs). AKs represent an in-situ form of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), posing the risk of developing into invasive SCC. Besides clinical, dermoscopic evaluation of AKs and wood light during photodynamic therapy used to visualize field cancerization (FC), we hypothesized that EIS could serve as an additive method to assess AKs and FC. Nevisense® is a non-invasive diagnostic tool based on EIS, which is approved for clinical use to aid in the diagnosis of melanocytic skin tumors. EIS detects abnormal changes in cell structure, size and shape, intra- and extracellular environment. The diagnostic algorithm of EIS used in this study was the same used in previous studies on melanoma and NMSC.
